The importance of forgiveness

Many medical studies show that forgiveness improves your health! Chronic anger generates changes in heart rate, blood pressure, and immune response. Those changes, then, increase the risk of depression, heart disease, and diabetes.

Forgiveness, however, can lead to lower stress and anxiety levels, less depression, healthier and closer relationships, a healthier heart, lower levels of blood pressure, lower levels of physical pain, better sleep, better immune system function, and more.

It’s very simple, by forgiving, we heal from the inside out!

Hate and anger affect our current relationships and our ability to authentically and lovingly connect with ourselves and others. Only when we truly forgive will we be free of pain, hurt, and anger. If we hold onto them, we won’t be able to enjoy the present—and they will affect our health in many ways.

The person you forgive does not mean that they are innocent, but you forgive them because you want to improve your life.

When we forgive, we’re becoming free! It’s the start point of a new, better, life.

If you want to improve your life, one of the key things you must do is release the past and live in the present moment. We often carry the past with us—and if we’re not aware of this, the past will weigh us down, and we will feel stuck

If the hurtful feelings (hate) come back, remind yourself that you are choosing to forgive; you choose to take your power back, and you are choosing love. Without love, you can not change and improve your life.

Every experience we have is a learning experience. Sometimes we go through the fire, but we come out stronger than before.

All the people have bad times in their lives but those experiences are part of our spiritual growth here on the planet. If we’re open to seeing it, those dark times transform us and help us see new perspectives and insights.

We can’t change the past, so we should not let the past hold us, prisoners. We need to see the hidden value of what happened, there’s always a lesson.

The lessons of the past are the teacher and educate the people about their mistakes and how to improve their lives. Don’t forget nobody is perfect!

When we embrace forgiveness, we also embrace peace, hope, gratitude, joy, and generally better life. As we embrace it, we also embrace who we are—love. When we forgive, we are retaking power and control over our own lives.

Phone others only when you can devote full attention to what the other person is saying. Consider: ignoring people is rude and unprofessional.

3) Plan projects. For example, always prepare an agenda for meetings. Contact key participants before the meeting to hear their views, solicit suggestions for agenda items, and coach them on how to prepare for the meeting. Send agendas far enough before the meeting so that people have time to prepare. Consider: Bad meetings demonstrate an inability to provide leadership.

4) Be courteous. Find the good in everyone. Compliment others. Avoid starting or listening to gossip. Never ridicule, insult, or make fun of other people. Use positive words, always speaking about what you want and how you want things to be. Avoid suggesting motives or assigning judgments for other peoples actions and views. Consider Discourtesy damages all relationships.

5) Help others. Be a mentor for newcomers. Share ideas. Teach people skills that will help them excel. Work with a spirit of abundance. Seek win/win results. Let others speak first, even on issues where you are an expert. Give first without attaching a receipt for return favors. Consider: Selfish people end up working harder.

1. Nourish.

Focus on one small thing at a time. Start simple and work from there. Don’t expect to change your eating habits overnight. Small changes executed day after day, week after week and so on can lead to really big change.

So pick one small nutrition action and practice it for one to two weeks before adding in a new change.

You could eat slowly and chew your food completely or focus on balancing your meals so that you have protein, carbohydrate, and fat at each meal. Omitting processed foods at one to two meals per day is also another great option.

2. Movement.

Take advantage of the time that you DO have. We get fixated on time so often that we don’t realize that a little is always better than nothing. For example, it’s so easy to think that you have to do a workout for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Wouldn’t 15 minutes of that workout be better than nothing though? The answer is yes!

Get unconventional. Maybe you don’t have time to get in a “workout”. Do what you can with what you’ve got. Maybe you take the stairs that day instead of the elevator. Park in the parking space furthest away from the building to get some extra steps in.

Stand up from your desk and walk around for a minute every 15 or 20 minutes. Run around at the playground with your kids. Go for a walk with your friends.

Move mindfully. Pay close attention to your body and what it’s trying to tell you. Your body and energy levels will fluctuate day by day to take advantage of more vigorous workouts when you can.

Also, it’s important to drink water. Your body needs it more often than you think!

3. Mindset.

Don’t give up. Don’t throw in the towel on eating right and moving your body. It seems easy to take the “all or nothing” approach but that’s not necessary. Something is always better than nothing. Don’t beat yourself up! Take a look at where you’re at right now and what you can make work right now.

The most important thing is to honor where you’re at. Only you know what you’re capable of at this point in your life. Make sure the small steps you take are 100% doable for you and your lifestyle. Small steps over time can add up to big change.
